Design: As emissions limits for stationary gas turbines were reduced, catalytic converters had to be retrofitted. This resulted in the loss of the original space for the silencer. Nießing, by using panel resonators, managed to implement a space-saving concept for the silencer, which was integrated into the remaining space, avoiding a completely new construction. Nießing delivered a combination of panel resonators and porous classic absorbers, proving broad-spectrum damping. This retrofit was clearly more economical, as the investment cost was greatly reduced by avoiding a new construction.
Unit: Gas turbine, FT8 (operating temperature up to 520°C)
